The Tyrone Area FFA Chapter has been awarded a $2,227 grant as part of the Grants for Growing program, sponsored by Tractor Supply Company. This nationwide initiative provides funding to local FFA chapters to support the development or improvement of agricultural education projects that enhance the classroom experience for students through chapter engagement activities.

The FFA chapter plans to utilize the grant to purchase tabletop lathes for students to create a variety of items, such as pens, ornaments, rolling pins, and more. While industrial manufacturing has replaced many traditional wood-turned products, the wood lathe remains vital for crafting custom or limited-production pieces. A skilled turner can efficiently produce a diverse range of objects using a small set of tools that can be easily adapted for various tasks.
